Because we all have questions.

Learn to drive with confidence in a calm, stress-free environment. Our instructors make every lesson a positive experience so you feel safe, supported, and ready for the road.

Should I learn manual or automatic?

It depends on your goals and what cars you’ll drive. A manual licence offers more flexibility and job options, while automatic is easier and increasingly popular with new drivers.

How do I get a learner's licence?

To get your learner’s licence, you must be 16 and pass a 30-question road rules test at the Department of Transport. Study up — it’s trickier than it looks!

Do you offer lessons in my area?

If you’re in Brisbane’s Bayside, we’ve got you covered! Just fill out the enquiry form and we’ll get your lessons booked in.

How do I book a test?

Book your driving test online via the QLD Department of Transport website. After completing the Hazard Perception Test, choose your preferred date and time, then email us your booking confirmation so we can match you with your instructor.

How do I know who my instructor will be?

Book online to see instructor availability and choose the one that suits you best.

I'd like a lesson sooner...can I join a waitlist?

Our instructors book out fast! If you’d like a lesson sooner than what’s available, join our waitlist — just email us and we’ll contact you if a spot opens up.

What do I need to bring to a lesson?

Just bring yourself, your learner’s permit, and your logbook — then relax, have fun, and enjoy learning!

Can I choose my instructor?

You can choose a male or female instructor when you sign up — whatever makes you feel most comfortable for a relaxed, stress-free learning experience.

Can I book lessons outside of normal hours?

Absolutely! We know life’s busy with school, uni, or work — we can pick you up after, run your lesson, and drop you back home.

Can I book your car for the test?

Book our Test Day Package to use our car and get a pre-test refresher lesson — the perfect way to feel confident and ready. Just need a car? You can book that too.

I'm a returning student, can I have the same instructor?

Of course! You can stick with the same instructor or mix it up and learn with a few — it’s up to you.

Can I use my own vehicle for a lesson?

Our vehicles are fitted with dual controls and extra mirrors to keep both learners and instructors safe. Once you’ve completed at least one lesson with us and your instructor confirms it’s safe, you can continue lessons in your own car. If you’d like to use your vehicle, please contact the office — a bit of paperwork is needed first.

Common questions

...asked by parents and guardians

Who is Driver Guide?

Driver Guide, powered by My Industry Training (MIT), is all about creating confident, safe Queensland drivers. We combine expert training with a calm, enjoyable learning environment to set you up for a lifetime of safe driving. Plus, we go beyond the basics — teaching practical car care and ownership skills along the way.

Will you do pick up and drop off?

Pick up and drop off are included with each of our lessons. All we ask is that you give our instructors 24 hours’ notice before the lesson begins. This way we can prepare appropriately for the pick up and drop off.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have a strict 24 hour notice period because when you cancel, someone is missing out on a lesson and our instructors lose income. We understand things crop up but we ask you to reschedule using your online portal or by calling our office.

I'd like a lesson sooner...can I join a waitlist?

Our instructors book out fast! If you’d like a lesson sooner than what’s available, join our waitlist — just email us and we’ll contact you if a spot opens up.

How many lessons will my child need?

It depends on their skill level — some need 10 lessons or less. Our instructors assess this in the first session and recommend what’s needed. We suggest starting with a single lesson first — it’s a great way to gauge progress and meet their instructor.

How qualified are the instructors?

Our instructors have all the required qualifications in Queensland in order to be driving instructors. They are required to have all government accreditations, a blue card, and a flawless driving record. We are committed to providing a stress-free and enjoyable learning environment. So, it is vital that each of our instructors can facilitate this.

Who is MIT?

My Industry Training provide high quality education to Queensland students, allowing them to upskill and find real employment. Their philosophy is based on a belief that all students regardless of educational, social, family and cultural backgrounds are treated equally in the learning environment allowing the opportunity to achieve success in our programs. Their role as trainers and educators is to facilitate the needs of students in both our schools and public programs providing successful pathways to employment. With Driver Guide, MIT has taken their highly successful approach to education and expanded it to teaching people how to drive safely.
